An Evening with Lilly Camden

The gentle light of Sydney Harbour in the afternoon as I look from this gracious apartment balcony nearby the Conservatorium of Music is a beautiful sight. There is no doubt. I am in good company this day as I listen to a most elegant lady with most Nobel and interesting plans.

Lilly Camden talks to me about all things musical but especially her passion for the violin and of Australia’s most gifted young violinists. The more she talks to me, the more I realize that despite a life long interest in music and art, I know little of the violin...

Her dream is to make the oldest and finest instruments – vintage violins - available to young and outstanding talents in Australia as she works closely with some of Australia’s most prominent businessmen and women.

The shared dream… to provide the finest instruments to the most gifted players…

I did not know that a Stradivari violin could fetch six million US dollars. This is a dream for her and she confides to me that she has sourced one but concedes the timing is not right. But, where there is will, there is a way… Her eyes tell me that this time will come.

I learn that violins of great distinction and age have a soul! Yes, a soul!
